Pedro Bourgeois is a lawyer and a graduate of the Faculdade Nacional de Direito (FND) of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), and a former member of the FND’s Laboratory of Institutional Studies.

Past work includes transnational litigation in competition and industrial property law, as well as research in civil procedure, institutional theory and economic regulation.

The academic work addresses access to the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court: the admissibility of the extraordinary appeal (recurso extraordinário) compared with the writ of certiorari of the Supreme Court of the United States, the Court’s discretion after Law No. 13,256/2016, and the abolition of embargos infringentes at the Supreme Court. Other writing covers the incident for the resolution of repetitive claims and competition enforcement in Brazil. In 2020, an article on interim relief in the protection of intellectual property appeared in The Legal 500.
